Overview

Touro University's Graduate School of Technology seeks Adjunct Faculty - Cybersecurity (AI Governance, Risk & Auditing to teach graduate-level cybersecurity courses focused on AI governance, risk management, and auditing. The ideal candidate brings expertise in cybersecurity frameworks, compliance, and emerging AI regulatory landscapes, with the ability to translate governance concepts into applied, workforce-ready skills.

Responsibilities
  • Teach assigned graduate cybersecurity courses in an asynchronous online format with required in-person engagement
  • Facilitate applied learning through case studies, audit simulations, and governance-based exercises
  • Guide students through real-world risk management, compliance, and audit workflows
  • Provide timely, actionable feedback on assignments and assessments
  • Support development of professional documentation, reporting, and governance communication skills
  • Maintain and update course materials within the learning management system (LMS)
  • Align instruction with evolving regulatory standards and industry frameworks

Instructional Scope

AI and Cyber Governance: Risk Foundations

  • Teach foundational cybersecurity frameworks including NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF), and their application in enterprise environments
  • Introduce AI-specific governance models, including NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) and global regulatory approaches such as the EU AI Act
  • Explain how frameworks are structured (functions, categories, controls) and how they integrate into enterprise risk management programs
  • Develop student ability to identify, assess, and prioritize risk across traditional IT systems and AI-enabled systems
  • Cover governance concepts including policy development, control selection, risk treatment, and stakeholder alignment
  • Use case studies to demonstrate how organizations operationalize frameworks in security, compliance, and business decision-making contexts

AI and Cyber Governance: Compliance and Auditing

  • Prepare students for auditor-level competency in information security and AI governance environments
  • Teach principles of auditing aligned to standards such as ISO 27001/27002, SOC 2, and emerging AI governance controls
  • Cover full audit lifecycle: planning, scoping, evidence collection, control testing, reporting, and follow-up
  • Emphasize risk-based auditing, including how to evaluate control effectiveness and identify gaps in both traditional and AI systems
  • Train students in governance structures, compliance requirements, and regulatory expectations across industries
  • Incorporate audit simulations and case-based exercises reflecting real organizational and regulated environments
  • Develop skills in documenting findings, managing nonconformities, and recommending corrective actions and continuous improvement
Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Assurance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field from an accredited institution required.
  • Doctoral degree in a related field preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor/Implementer, or similar
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity governance, risk management, compliance (GRC), auditing, or related roles
  • Demonstrated experience working with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, RMF) and/or compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST 800-53)

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities

  • Familiarity with AI governance frameworks and regulatory trends, including NIST AI RMF or equivalent
  • Experience conducting or supporting audits, risk assessments, or compliance initiatives
  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk management and governance practices
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in producing professional reports and documentation
  • Ability to teach in an asynchronous online environment using an LMS (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle)
  • Commitment to student engagement, timely feedback, and academic integrity

Travel

  • Must be willing to commute to 3 Times Sq. for live synchronous classes at least 7 times a semester
  • Courses are delivered primarily in an asynchronous online format, requiring consistent online presence and facilitation
