Job description

As a Medical Assistant (MA) in our pediatric and adult urgent care facility, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to patients of all ages. Our urgent care center is equipped to handle a wide range of conditions, including flu, strep throat, COVID-19, urinary tract infections, and more. You will be responsible for assisting healthcare providers in performing various procedures in-house and ensuring efficient and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducting in-house diagnostic tests for flu, strep throat, COVID-19, urine analysis, and other relevant tests as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Performing procedural tasks such as ear irrigation, splinting, wound repairs, burn dressing, and other minor procedures under the supervision of healthcare providers.
  • Ensuring accurate medication dosing for both pediatric and adult patients and providing clear and concise discharge instructions to patients and their caregivers.
  • Recognizing signs of worsening conditions in patients and promptly reporting to healthcare providers for further evaluation and management.
  • Participating actively in patient education initiatives, providing patients and their families with information on preventive healthcare measures, medication administration, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborating closely with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
  • Demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and actively participating in team-building activities to foster a positive work environment.
  • Adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a clean and safe environment in the urgent care facility.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
  • Previous experience in urgent care or primary care settings highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of medication dosing and administration for both pediatric and adult populations.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals of all ages.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to upholding patient confidentiality and privacy standards.
  • Willingness to undergo additional training as required and stay updated on current best practices in urgent care.
