Hours/Schedule of Work: Various Hours Working as Directed, Monday - Sunday, up to 19 Hours/Week. Hours will vary with seasons.
Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinators, perform entry-level tasks in the operation, maintenance and functions of programming and events within the Recreation department; perform entry level athletics operations; perform outdoor assistant roles; maintain and operate city equipment, facilities, materials, supplies, records and reports.
Essential Duties:
May perform hands-on tasks; including but is not limited to, the operation of inflatable equipment (movie screens, bouncy castles), sounds systems, electrical boxes and cords, score boards, basic field preparation, sports equipment and materials operation.
Assist with groups of individuals in numerous variations of recreational activities and operate recreation programming offered by Lewiston Parks and Recreation under the direction of the Recreation Coordinators.
Support programming by preparing fields, facilities, parks and operating materials and equipment necessary to uphold the standards provided in training, staff manuals, and city code.
Open and close Community Center for building rentals and reservation. Oversee and maintain buildings during rentals and reservations.
Assist with set-up and breakdown of various community events and recreation programs. Perform great customer service by answering questions and providing assistance during community events and recreation programs.
Potentially driving various types of vehicles; four-wheelers, mid-sized vehicles; all while operating within the confines of the law.
Represent the City of Lewiston by adhering to Parks and Recreation's mission statement and promoting programming opportunities offered by our department or departments that benefit the community in healthy active lifestyles.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver License

  • Work Well Under Pressure.
  • Good Problem Solving Characteristics.
  • Work Well with Others or Individually.
  • Lift Approximately 50lbs.

Knowledge: (or ability to learn)
  • Basics in Electronics: Sounds Systems, Computers, Apple Products, Score Panels
  • Rules and regulations of various sports
  • Entry Level Athletics and Outdoor Oversight: Set-up and Operation
  • Knowledge of Parks and Recreation Programming

Working Conditions:
Recreation Leaders are expected to conduct their responsibilities in various weather conditions. Precautions will be made by admin staff to keep participants and staff safe from severe/dangerous weather. Staff should expect to be physically active for various lengths of time during working hours.
