Job description

Job Scope:
The Scalehouse Attendant is responsible for the entire truck weighing process. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, weighing trucks, shipping ticket compliance, greeting truck drivers, filing, and site-specific training. In addition, this position will be managing the facility gates and parking. This position is responsible for keeping a strong communication line between the scalehouse and the receiving department. This role ensures shipments are accurate, properly documented, and aligned with production schedules and customer requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide outstanding internal and external customer service
  • Promptly answer incoming calls utilizing proper phone etiquette
  • Operate a truck scale and weigh trucks accurately by maintaining computerized records of material amounts.
  • Generate scale tickets complete data entry to maintain vehicle and necessary files.
  • Maintain record of current license numbers and current tare weights of all trucks.
  • Screening and recording incoming loads
  • Directing vehicles entering and leaving the facility
  • Ensure all trucks are in and out of the pit in a timely manner
  • Review and confirm all information on Receiving Logs are accurate and keyed in system correctly
  • Maintain general cleanliness of Office
  • Report any discrepancies in paperwork to the department responsible

  • Maintain organized shipping records and files
  • Understand various loading procedures for domestic, foreign, and key account shipments.
  • Understand trailer loading procedures, rough sides, holes, tires, etc.
  • Understand all protocols for using/operating IFS scanners, filling out load sheets, weight tickets, etc.
  • Perform and comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Report all safety violations and safety hazards to Shift Supervisor immediately.
  • Be an employee champion who will maintain a strong and positive working relationship with all employees with the utmost integrity, confidentiality, and ethical values.

Additional Job Functions:
  • Assist in maintaining a positive team environment and good working relationship by maintaining a positive attitude toward all Diamond team members, vendors, and customers.
  • Assist as backup for Inputting Shipping Log data entry in various Excel spreadsheets.
  • Assist as back up with completing international loads.
  • Working overtime is mandatory and requires full participation including availability to work occasional weekends if needed.
  • Accept temporary assignment changes to assist other areas including coverage for other employees’ absences whether preplanned or on short notice, maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
  • Complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner and be conscientious about assignments.
