To thrive as a Paralegal, you need strong legal research, writing, and organizational skills, typically supported by a paralegal certificate or relevant degree. Familiarity with legal research databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis and proficiency in document management systems are essential technical requirements. Staying on top of case files, court dates, and attorney requests requires strong time-management skills and attention to detail. Many paralegals use specialized legal software and checklists to track tasks and ensure nothing is overlooked. Collaborating closely with attorneys and other support staff also helps distribute the workload and maintain smooth case progression.
