Job description

Staff Accountant – Hotel, Resort & Club Accounting

Charlottesville / Waynesboro, VA  |  On-Site  |  $60,000 – $70,000 + Benefits + Hospitality Perks

Up to Par Management  |  Taylor Hospitality

Want accounting work that actually matters? We're Taylor Hospitality and Up to Par Management, a fast-growing portfolio of hotels, resorts, private clubs, and hospitality venues, and we're hiring a Staff Accountant for our corporate team at what's honestly one of the most exciting stretches in our company's history.

Here's the deal: we're forecasting 2026–2028 to be our strongest growth years ever, and we're building the accounting team that'll make it happen. If you're looking for real, hands-on exposure to multi-property hotel and hospitality accounting, mentorship from finance leaders who've been around the block, and a clear path toward Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, and Controller — pull up a chair.

Why You'll Love This Role

You'll own real work, not busywork. Think full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and monthly financial reviews straight with our hotel, resort, and club clients. No mindless data entry.

We promote from within, and we mean it. Our Staff Accountants regularly move up to Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, and Controller as the portfolio grows.

And then there are the perks: discounted and complimentary stays at our hotels and resorts, golf at our managed clubs, and food & beverage discounts across the portfolio. But if we're being honest, the best perk is the people. We really like working with each other, and we think you will too.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial statements — balance sheet, P&L, and membership financials — across our hotel, hospitality, and club portfolio.
  • Lead monthly financial review meetings with property-level clients: explain variances, tell the story behind the numbers, and recommend solutions.
  • Record and post journal entries from invoices, cash receipts, supplier invoices, and bank activity into the general ledger.
  • Perform month-end close: account reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, intercompany entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Analyze cost of goods sold (COGS) and operating expenses against prior year and budget; surface variances and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop, document, and train scalable accounting processes that grow with our portfolio.
  • Partner with operations, F&B, rooms, and club department heads to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Support audit preparation, year-end close, and ad-hoc finance projects.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Working knowledge of GAAP, bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, and the full month-end close cycle.
  • Hotel accounting, resort accounting, club accounting, or restaurant / F&B accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with hospitality accounting platforms — M3 Accounting Core, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, Aptech ProfitSage, or similar — is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP / XLOOKUP, SUMIFS).
  • Strong written and verbal communication — you can explain a variance to a non-accountant.
  • CPA, CPA candidate, or actively pursuing CPA licensure is a plus (we'll support you).
  • Sharp attention to detail; comfortable juggling multiple property entities and deadlines.
Compensation & Benefits
  • $60,000 – $70,000 base salary, depending on experience
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Paid vacation, personal, and sick time
  • Company-paid life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • CPA exam support and continuing professional education (CPE) reimbursement
  • Hotel, resort, golf, and food & beverage perks across our managed properties
  • Clear career path to Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, and Controller
Location

This is an on-site position based in the Charlottesville / Waynesboro, Virginia area. We welcome applicants commuting from Charlottesville, Waynesboro, Crozet, Staunton, Albemarle County, Augusta County, Nelson County, Greene County, and the broader Shenandoah Valley and Central Virginia region.
