Summary:
The Application Engineer is responsible for providing technical support to the sales organization, including preparing quotations.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain a general understanding of all Voith Fiber Systems products and process technology, working with existing Application Engineers.
• Determine customer needs, problems and requirements and deliver a solution (system or single machine) to fulfill/solve it.
• Define and size the required machines and systems according to the Voith Engineering Directives.
• Develop accurate, competitive and appropriate quotations in a timely manner and develop accurate and detailed cost estimates.
• Maintain a well-organized quotation file with accurate and current Sizing Sheets, Balances, Correspondences, Equipment Specifications.
• Assist Sales Team to help determine customer needs and promote Voith products and technology through email, phone calls, meetings, or site visits.
• Support (participate) in the start-up and optimization of systems sold as required to maintain a thorough understanding of the process.
• If required, present at customer site or conferences.
• Work as a team with cross-departmental colleagues.
Qualifications:
• Enrolled in a qualified educational program for a BS degree in Pulp & Paper Science or Chemical Engineering.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to talk technically with sales and engineering colleagues (local, national, international).
• Excellent organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, ability to learn other programs.
• Discretion in dealing with confidential data.
• Paper mill experience will be advantageous but not necessary.
• Self starter requiring little guidance from superiors.
