Job description

Job Summary:

The Folding Operator will operate and adjust all equipment in the Folding Department. The equipment that the operator may be required to operate includes, but may not be limited to: Top Loader, Bowie, Folders, and Cutter. This position works 5:45 am to 5:45 pm 3/4 schedule and every other Wednesday.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Set up of precision folding jobs for customers on various pieces of equipment in the department.
  • Follow instructions specified on the job board and ensuring that the correct job board is being used.
  • Precision folds, cuts, or collates customer job as per the instructions on the job board.
  • Maintains the integrity of the match on match jobs.
  • Makes sure that proper folding order is followed.
  • Follows and adheres to all SWP Safety Procedures.
  • Must fill out time sheet accurately each day to reflect all information requested.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • All work must be done as per the specifications of the customer.
  • Must have the ability to understand the specifications and adjustments needed for several different job needs to ensure quality production as well as minimal errors and waste.

SAFETY HAZARDS:

  • Works with machinery that has high speed moving parts.
  • Cutters have sharp blades that could inflict life-threatening injuries if safety procedures are not followed.
  • Noise levels are consistently above the allowable levels. Hearing protection required.
  • Heavy lifting and proper lifting techniques are required.

SAFETY PROCEDURES:

  • Machine must be turned off before clearing paper jams.
  • Extremities are not to be placed inside moving machine parts during operation.
  • Cutting board must be used to straighten/adjust stacked paper inside cutter.
  • No liquids should be placed on or around the machine during operation.
  • Follow proper lifting technique:Before lifting, make sure your path is dry and clear of objects that could cause a fall.
  • Bend your knees and keep your back straight. (Lift with your legs, not your back.)
  • Bring the load close to your body.
  • Lift in a slow, even motion.
  • Don't twist your body. If you must turn, move your feet.
  • Keep your back straight when putting down the load.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent grasping of material with both hands.
  • Frequent bending and stooping to move material.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (11 hour shifts).
  • Regular heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.
