What Your Job Will Be Like

Join us as an R&D Systems Build and Tooling Engineer on the W93/Mk7, contributing to the first ND Phase-X system in decades. Collaborate with experts across Sandia National Labs and the Nuclear Security Enterprise in a state-of-the-art facility, working on impactful projects with top-tier tools and support.

You will work in a best-in-class environment, playing a key role in the early build and assembly process with a program-wide perspective. This onsite role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-critical national security program while advancing your technical expertise.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Lead complex assembly and disassembly operations for W93/Mk7 system-level test assets.
  • Employ analytical thinking to work through ambiguous problems with a multi-disciplinary team when issues arise during builds.
  • Apply mechanical, process, test, and manufacturing engineering expertise to solve challenging hardware and assembly issues.
  • Act as the primary liaison for the Weapon Modernization Lab, ensuring builds meet test schedules and coordinating critical operations across Center 2300.
  • Collaborate with design, qualification, test, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure test assets meet product requirements and maintain safety and performance standards.
  • Work closely with hardware and assembly teams to ensure readiness and quality of all lab operations.
  • Develop and escalate nonconformance/problem reports to inform critical design decisions and component maturation.
  • Develop and maintain master build procedures, adapting them with Test Leads for specific objectives and custom instrumentation.
  • Design and procure build tooling, coordinating with Pantex and Lockheed Martin to align tooling strategies across the program.
  • Support Pantex Integration by sharing lessons learned to enhance WR assembly processes.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.

Salary Range
