Job Summary:
Pantex Plant is seeking a Solutions Architect who will be responsible for designing and implementing innovative solutions to meet business needs. The role involves serving as the technical lead on complex projects and collaborating with IT teams to enhance system infrastructure and processes.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Provide guidance and evaluation of technology solutions to provide input on technology direction to ensure Pantex is utilizing best in class technologies and practices in support of its missions.
โ€ข Identify and work with team of engineers and architects to identify areas for automation and application of Software Development and IT Operations (DevOps) principles.
โ€ข Work with IT and various business partners on cloud based technologies and how cloud could be utilized as part of solutions.
โ€ข Ensures solutions are well engineered, operable, and maintainable.
โ€ข Works with IT project management organization to deliver solutions on schedule.
โ€ข Tracks and documents requirements for enterprise development projects.
โ€ข Monitors current and future trends in technology which will positively affect organizational projects.
โ€ข Acts as the senior technical resources for organization projects.
โ€ข Works with enterprise architects to develop solutions which align to organization and mission needs.
โ€ข Responsible for working with IT project management organization to allocate assigned labor/budget resources to execute project tasks.
โ€ข Work effectively as part of an architecture team providing technical guidance to the business.
โ€ข Ability to interact with senior leadership and customers to promote current technologies and solutions.
โ€ข Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
โ€ข Supports and promotes an environment which relies on teamwork and collaboration.
โ€ข Ability to take larger projects and break them down into manageable work units.
โ€ข Evaluate Cyber Security implications of solutions and technologies.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in engineering/science discipline.
โ€ข Master's degree in engineering/science discipline.
โ€ข OR Applicants without a bachelor's degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 8 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.
โ€ข Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
โ€ข The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
โ€ข Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP).
โ€ข If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 CFR 709.
โ€ข Medical requirements may apply.
โ€ข Pantex is a drug-free workplace.
โ€ข Candidates accepting a job offer will be required to pass a pre-placement physical, drug screening and background investigation.
โ€ข As an employee, you may be required to receive and maintain a security clearance from the United States Department of Energy in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to sensitive information or matter.
โ€ข U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants.
โ€ข All employees are subject to random selection for drug testing without advance notification.
Preferred:
โ€ข Architecture: Creating logical/physical architecture diagrams and data flow diagrams using Microsoft Visio or similar tools, identifying and planning system integrations, performing complexity assessments.
โ€ข Cloud Platforms & Services: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, M365 and related Microsoft cloud services.
โ€ข Operating Systems: Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
โ€ข Databases: SQL Server, Oracle.
โ€ข Virtualization: VMWare (server virtualization), VMWare Horizon (desktop virtualization).
โ€ข Security & Compliance: Strong cybersecurity background, vulnerability management tools (Tenable, Nessus), DISA STIGs, PKI certificates, Managed Service Accounts, Active Directory (AD), Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP), Identity and Access Management (IAM), Single Sign-On (SAML, OIDC).
โ€ข Networking & Infrastructure: General networking skills, experience with Operational Technology (OT) networks is desirable.
โ€ข Monitoring & Logging: Enterprise log management (Splunk), system monitoring/alerting tools (Netreo, SolarWinds).
โ€ข Enterprise Applications: SAP, PeopleSoft.
โ€ข Application Hosting & Development: IIS, JBOSS, Apache Tomcat, .Net, Java, Oracle APEX, REST APIs.
โ€ข IT Service Management & Automation: Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes, ServiceNow, PowerShell scripting.
โ€ข The candidate must also have the ability to present technical and operational information clearly and effectively through the oral and written word, solve complex technical problems, and be alert to changes that may affect the security and operational environment of systems.
