Description

The Funeral Assistant will support and assist the Funeral Directors, Funeral Staff, and clientele, performing various tasks required to deliver respectful, professional, and thoughtful funeral services. This position is part-time as needed for services that are scheduled. 


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Courteously greets all visitors.
  • Prepares vehicles for daily use, including the following duties: full vacuum, clean windows, and full gas tank.
  • Directs and leads mourners to and from rooms or chapels where services and visitations are being held.
  • Assists mourners as they enter and exit limousines, funeral vehicles, or other forms of transportation.
  • Oversees processions and assists with cemetery parking as needed.
  • Acts as pallbearer when necessary.
  • Assists with casket transport, setup, and final disposition.  
  • Assists with floral arrangement placements and removal. 
  • Provides complete and accurate paperwork as needed to the Funeral 
  • Maintains a safe driving record in accordance with Cedar Memorials' insurance policy. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Keen social awareness and integrity. 
  • Excellent understanding of customer service.  
  • Detail-oriented. 
  • Ability to neatly arrange flowers at the funeral home and burial site. 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license, including any special endorsement that may be necessary to operate vehicles used to transport caskets.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods of standing may be required.
