Job description

Burrtec Waste Industries, Inc. is a well-established refuse and recycling collection company serving over fifteen municipalities throughout Southern California and employing over 1400 full-time employees. Burrtec continues to grow through comapany acquisitions and successful bid proposals. Burrtec is a family-owned company that firmly believes the key element to our success is knowing how important each employee is in the organization. We have the following position at our City of San Bernardino Hauling division:

Bin Repair/ Painter

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, performs arc welding activities on bins and roll-off containers.

SALARY RANGE: $25.50/hour - $28.90/hour

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Inspect containers and metal bins to determine feasibility of repair.
  • Replace wheel assembly and or plastic lids on plastic containers and uses oxy-acetylene cutting torch to remove damaged wheel assemblies.
  • Assigned to clean containers and yard/shop area as needed.
  • Help maintain appropriate inventory Level of bins and roll-off containers and barrels.
  • Follow safe work practices and uses appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment).
  • Prioritize workload according to operational needs.
  • Assist with road calls by performing oil spill clean-ups in the field.
  • Cleaning and repairing metal refuse bins and plastic trash containers.
  • Help maintain yard clean and organized and performs other yard related operational tasks as directed by supervisors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to use arc welder or wire feed welder to attach new wheel assemblies.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in all facets of arc welding, oxy fuel procedures is required.
  • Familiarity with safe work practices and welding procedures.

PHYSICAL:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. on an intermittent basis.
  • Ability to stand, bend, squat and kneel.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions and to moderate noise and dust levels.
