Position Summary:


The Manufacturing Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing metal components and assemblies according to company quality standards, production schedules, and safety requirements. This role requires advanced experience with industrial painting equipment, surface preparation, coating applications, and quality inspection in a manufacturing environment.


Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing or industrial painting experience and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced production setting with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, grinding, or applying pretreatment as required
  • Mix paints, primers, and coatings according to manufacturer specifications
  • Apply coatings using spray guns, pressure pots, or other industrial painting equipment
  • Inspect finished parts for quality, coverage, runs, defects, and compliance with specifications
  • Maintain proper paint thickness and finish consistency
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and production instructions
  • Perform touch-up work and rework when necessary
  • Troubleshoot paint defects and identify corrective actions
  • Maintain paint equipment and complete routine cleaning and maintenance
  • Monitor inventory of paint supplies and notify supervisor of shortages
  • Follow all safety procedures related to PPE, respirators, hazardous materials, and ventilation systems
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Meet daily production and quality expectations
  • Assist in training less experienced painters when needed
  • Assist in other production areas as required

Qualifications:

Required

  • Minimum 2 years of industrial or manufacturing painting experience
  • Strong experience using industrial spray equipment and painting systems
  • Knowledge of paint mixing ratios, coating applications, curing requirements, and surface preparation techniques
  • Ability to identify and correct paint defects and finish inconsistencies
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, drawings, and production documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Solid understanding of workplace safety procedures and hazardous material handling

Preferred:

  • Experience painting aluminum, steel, or metal fabrication products
  • Experience with architectural coatings or custom finish requirements
  • Forklift certification
  • Experience in a lean manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
