Job description

About Maddox + You:

As a Paint Technician, you would be working in a shop environment where your responsibilities will include:

  • Apply a quality finish to transformers using paints, lacquers, enamels and water-based products
  • Assist in surface preparation (i.e. Sanding, Application of bondo and sandable primer base coat)
  • Use of multiple styles of paint applicators (brushes, rollers, Air-Assisted Airless, HVLP Gun)
  • Assemble, clean, and maintain paint equipment (pressure washer, paint guns/lines and paint booth)
  • Maintenance of environmental records (i.e. paint usage logs, hazardous waste disposal records, and paint booth filter Logs)
  • Wear proper PPE during paint booth operation (positive pressure hood)
  • Paint touch-up when required

This is not an assembly-line factory job. It's a fast-paced, hard-working, but very rewarding environment where you will be part of a team of qualified technicians who rebuild industrial transformers. More about You:

  • You love working with your hands to fix things and solve problems.
  • You're comfortable with online documentation and web-based software systems (with computer & smartphone).
  • You're a good communicator; in-person, over the phone, and via email.
  • You're a good learner; not a know-it-all.

Basics:

  • This position currently works 45 hours on a 5-day a week schedule. All day-time schedule (not night shift). Schedule changes slightly during Summer/Winter, but is generally 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday.
  • Will be transitioning to 40 hours on a 4-day a week schedule once staff levels allow. 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Some paid overtime is available during peak times.
  • Employees are required to meet basic physical requirements for a heavy-equipment environment. Occasional exposure to confined spaces. Must know how to use basic hand tools, follow written instructions, etc.
