What are paid ads?

Paid ads are advertisements that businesses pay to display on various digital platforms such as search engines, social media, and websites. They are designed to increase visibility, drive traffic, and generate leads by targeting specific audiences based on demographics, interests, or behaviors. Unlike organic reach, paid ads provide immediate exposure and measurable results, making them a popular strategy for businesses looking to grow online.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a paid ads specialist?

To thrive as a Paid Ads Specialist, you need expertise in digital marketing strategies, data analysis, and campaign optimization, often supported by a degree in marketing or a related field. Familiarity with platforms like Google Ads, Facebook Ads Manager, and analytics tools, as well as certifications such as Google Ads Certification, are typically required. Strong analytical thinking, creativity, and communication skills help you design compelling ads and clearly report results to stakeholders. These abilities are crucial for maximizing return on investment and ensuring effective, results-driven advertising campaigns.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals managing paid ads campaigns, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in paid ads roles often encounter challenges such as staying updated with rapidly changing platform algorithms, managing tight budgets, and demonstrating ROI to stakeholders. To overcome these, it's important to continually educate yourself through industry resources, closely monitor campaign analytics, and maintain clear communication with clients or team members about goals and results. Collaborating with creative teams can also help optimize ad content for better performance, and proactive A/B testing ensures campaigns remain effective in a competitive landscape.

Job description

You'll spend real money, defend every dollar of it, and then help us build the agent that automates what you figured out.

This is a hybrid role: you run paid acquisition for Okara across the channels that matter (Meta, Google, X, LinkedIn — whatever the data says to prioritize), and your playbook becomes the spec for our future Ads Agent. You're not just buying media, you're the person who'll eventually train an agent to do part of your own job — if that idea makes you excited, this is the role.

What the first month looks like: you audit whatever paid spend already exists (or don't, if there's none), set up tracking that actually tells us CAC and LTV instead of vanity metrics, and run one small test you can kill or scale within two weeks.

The bar: you've run paid acquisition for more than one SaaS product and can show CAC, LTV, or payback numbers you actually hit — not just budgets you managed. We want someone who's killed as many campaigns as they've scaled.

What you get: real budget authority, a founder who wants the bad news fast instead of a nice deck, and a shot at defining a brand-new product surface.

In order to apply, share how much monthly budget you have managed, what has been ROAS, CAC, LTV of your last campaigns.
