Job description
Under the general supervision of the Radiology leadership team, the CT Technologist performs high-quality computed tomography (CT) imaging procedures to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating patients. The technologist is responsible for patient preparation, image acquisition, contrast administration, radiation safety, documentation, and maintaining quality standards. The role may also include performing general diagnostic radiology examinations as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Perform CT examinations following physician orders and established imaging protocols.
- Explain procedures to patients, review clinical history, and prepare patients for imaging.
- Position patients accurately and operate CT equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Administer intravenous contrast media, including the use of power injectors, while monitoring patients for adverse reactions.
- Review and confirm imaging protocols with the radiologist when necessary.
- Assist radiologists during sterile and image-guided procedures, including biopsies.
- Follow ALARA principles and radiation safety guidelines to minimize patient exposure.
