Medical Administration Specialist (PACS)

Compass Government Solutions is currently recruiting qualified Medical Administration Specialists (PACS) to provide Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) support services at Naval Medical Center San Diego in San Diego, California. This position supports imaging informatics, radiology workflow operations, PACS administration, and clinical systems support in a military medical center environment.

Work Schedule: The Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) operates 365 days per year, 24 hours per day. PACS services shall be provided Sunday through Saturday, between the hours of 0700–0659. Shifts will normally be scheduled for 8.5-hour or 11-hour shifts to support 24-hour and weekend coverage. Healthcare Workers (HCWs) may be scheduled on a rotating basis for weekend coverage, including Saturdays and/or Sundays. Each shift includes an uncompensated 30-minute or 60-minute meal break.

Job Duties:

  • Monitor healthcare delivery plans, patient demand, access-to-care compliance, and quality-of-care initiatives impacting MTF operations
  • Prepare presentations, project papers, staff reports, biometric reports, and administrative correspondence for leadership
  • Conduct studies and support projects, programs, and initiatives related to military healthcare activities
  • Implement MTF policies and initiatives to improve operational effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, customer satisfaction, and quality improvement efforts
  • Support clinical protocols and imaging workflow operations
  • Monitor, maintain, and support daily PACS operations to ensure system performance and availability
  • Provide Tier I–III troubleshooting support for PACS, RIS, modalities, and connected systems
  • Build and maintain worklists, hanging protocols, and user profiles
  • Support DICOM device configuration, modality integration, and exam code mapping
  • Coordinate with IT, cybersecurity, networking, and vendor teams to resolve system issues and implement enhancements
  • Participate in PACS upgrades, migrations, testing, workflow redesign, and system rollouts
  • Maintain documentation related to incidents, system changes, downtime procedures, SOPs, and training materials
  • Provide training and workflow guidance to end users, radiology staff, and clinical teams
  • Assist with data reporting, analysis, audit responses, and quality assurance initiatives
  • Serve as liaison between radiologists, technologists, IT staff, and vendors to support imaging system operations and workflow optimization
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, information management, or related medical discipline required

  • Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) preferred
  • PACS Administrators Registry and Certification Association (PARCA) certification preferred, including: CPAS, CDIP, CPSA
  • Cybersecurity certification preferred

Additional Qualifications: The following qualifications are not required, but preferred:

  • Experience with Fuji Synapse PACS, PowerScribe, or similar radiology reporting systems
  • Experience with military, federal, or DoD/DHA healthcare systems
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, Authority to Operate (ATO) processes, and secure configuration guidelines
  • Experience performing PACS data migrations, system upgrades, or table/worklist buildouts
  • Advanced understanding of imaging workflows across Radiology, Cardiology, and specialty clinics
  • Vendor coordination experience with imaging, network, or reporting system vendors

Citizenship/Security: U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to access requirements for U.S. Government computer systems and networks.
