Identify, develop and implement packages that meet the needs of clients and Patheon operations.


A day in the Life:

·        Works with clients and project leaders to identify package requirements.

·        Works with client, supervisors and equipment engineers to optimize package formats.

·        Develops and communicates detailed packaging bills of material.

·        Develops and gains consensus on packaging component specifications with guidance from client, vendor, operations and quality.

·        Works with Document Services and client to develop packaging records.

·        Works with client and copy coordinator to develop labeling requirements and specifications.

·        Works with client and project or account manager to ensure approval of packaging records.

·        Writes protocols and reports for engineering studies and validations.

·        Supports Project Teams and improvement projects; administrative activities.


Keys to Success

Education:

Bachelor's of Science in Packaging, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or Bachelor’s degree in another field and extensive experience with pharmaceutical packaging.  Extensive or equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.


Experience:

1+ years of previous related experience in pharmaceutical packaging.


Equivalency:

Equivalent combinations of education, training, and meaningful work experience may be considered.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

REQUIRED:

·        Ability to work with minimal supervision.

·        Broad general understanding of pharmaceutical packaging processes and practices.

·        Understanding of pertinent GMPs and SOPs.

·        Ability to work closely and appropriately with clients and internal departments to gain consensus.

·        Knowledge and understanding of packaging equipment functions.

·        Functional knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

Preferred:

·        Strong organizational skills.

·        Proficient in Adobe Illustrator


Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pound pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time
