Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Fire Alarm Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing fire alarm systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings. The Fire Alarm Designer will coordinate with the project manager, estimator, and sales team throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Design fire alarm systems for Total Fire & Security projects
  • Develop and prepare detailed CAD drawings for fire alarm and detection systems.
  • Review construction contract documents
  • Thorough use of analytical thinking and problem solving, determine construction feasibility and systems possibilities
  • Create stock list for all material required throughout the project
  • Maintain design historical records for future use
  • Develop positive and ongoing relationships with customers to ensure company is meeting customers' expectations
  • Coordinate with other departments within office to ensure proper handover of job information
  • Perform Project Manager functions as required
  • Complete other assigned responsibilities as directed by immediate supervisor

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or a related field helpful
  • NICET Certification is preferred
  • Two years experience in the design and implementation of fire alarm systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant codes and standards (NFPA 72, 70, & FBC, Florida Fire and Prevention code 8th edition)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience with BlueBeam software is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates outstanding communication
  • Ability to produce NFPA compliant submittal drawings
  • Ability to site survey
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65000 - $90000 per year

Schedule: 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday
