About The Opportunity
Responsible for leading the design engineering, development, and execution of retail display and packaging solutions from concept through commercialization. Oversees all aspects of packaging design engineering projects, including structural design, material selection, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing readiness. Sets deadlines, assigns responsibilities, and monitors progress to ensure solutions meet customer brand, performance, sustainability, and cost objectives. Prepares and presents project status, risks, and recommendations to internal leadership and customers.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Serves as primary liaison between company and customer to design and engineer best-in-class retail merchandising and packaging solutions that drive sales growth and enhance brand presence
  • Leads the structural and packaging design engineering process, from initial concept and CAD development through prototyping, testing, validation, and production launch
  • Manages display and primary packaging development and execution, collaborating closely with design, engineering, operations, sourcing, and external partners
  • Applies packaging engineering principles to recommend materials, structures, finishes, and manufacturing methods that optimize performance, cost, sustainability, and speed to market
  • Serves as subject matter expert on Menasha's packaging design, engineering capabilities, materials, and manufacturing processes to align with customer brand and functional requirements
  • Proactively manages project timelines, technical risks, and design changes, clearly communicating progress and trade-offs to internal and customer stakeholders
  • Makes data-driven recommendations to optimize quality, structural integrity, pack-out efficiency, durability, and graphic execution
  • Partners with customers and internal teams on continuous improvement and value engineering initiatives to deliver cost savings and performance enhancements
  • Manages internal and customer complaints, leading root cause analysis and corrective actions related to design, materials, or manufacturing performance
  • Coordinates comprehensive cost estimates, including tooling, materials, labor, and design iterations, working with key stakeholders
  • Prepares, reviews, and presents required business and technical reports, including design rationales, test results, and launch readiness updates
  • Maintains and shares industry, professional, and technical knowledge by networking, attending industry events, and staying current on packaging design engineering trends, materials, and sustainability innovations

Education & Experience
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Minimum of 2 - 5 years of relevant experience required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Ability to design, implement and execute Customer Relationship Management (CRM) business processes and associated applications
    • Knowledge of and ability to implement effective strategies and activities that promote long-term customer loyalty
    • Knowledge of project management skills to identify, coordinate, communicate, schedule and determine resources for each project and customer activity
    • Familiarity with organization's policies, standards and procedures guiding customer interactions
    • Knowledge of practices, tools, and techniques for communicating with a customer
    • Knowledge of and ability to apply the processes, activities and tools associated with managing customer requests

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
    • Primarily works in an office environment with occasional time spent in a production and/or warehouse setting
    • Occasional travel required
