Shoals sells their solar products principally to engineering, procurement, and construction firms that build solar energy projects. The custom nature of their system solutions and the engineered-to-order development cycle for solar projects typically gives Shoals a 12+ month lead time to quote, engineer, produce, and ship each order, so there is no need to stock large amounts of finished goods.

Summary:

Shoals Technologies, a global renewable energy organization, is hiring a Sr Manufacturing Engineer.

Responsibilities:
•    Collaborate with Plant Management, Maintenance, HSE, and Quality to solve production and safety problems.
•    Monitor production trends and implement continuous improvements.
•    Perform time studies to collect cycle times on plant machinery, personnel, and workstations.
•    Use production forecast to analyze and predict labor/machinery needs.
•    Use lean manufacturing principles to help improve plant floor layouts and increase overall efficiency.
•    Assist in the layout, process design, and implementation of a new 638,000 square foot manufacturing facility.
•    Develop and implement manufacturing processes for new products.
•    Implement the installation and development of an automated production data collection system.
•    Research and implement new technology to help achieve maximum quality and efficiency.
•    Work in a hands-on manufacturing environment with cross functional teams.
•    Develop work instructions and provide training on the manufacturing process.
•    Design, develop, and deploy machinery and other equipment intended to execute and improve processes.
•    Duties will require some travel.
•    Other duties as assigned. 


Requirements:
•    Bachelor degree in Engineering is required; Mechanical Engineering preferred
•    Requires 7+ years’ experience in mechanical and/or electrical design, process improvement, and directing or coordinating manufacturing projects in a factory environment. 
•    Lean and/or Six Sigma Certification is a plus. 
•    Experience with CAD - SolidWorks (or equiv.), bill of materials, mechanical drawings, and engineering change orders.
•    Ability to handle multiple tasks while being thorough and detail oriented.
•    Desire to learn, and ability to grasp and apply learned concepts quickly.
•    Proven strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills, and the ability to create and work within team environments.
