Overseas Medical Assistant Jobs (NOW HIRING)

These are TEMPORARY, INTERMITTENT positions located in Bureau of Medical Services, Office of Clinical Programs. The incumbent serves as a Physician Assistant responsible for filling medical positions at overseas posts or domestically when there are staffing shortages or extended staffing gaps by assuming the role of a primary care provider and is responsible for providing a full range of primary, preventative, and emergency medical services.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.

Applicants MUST meet the required basic entry qualification requirements described below:

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

 All applicants must meet the following basic requirements for all grade levels:

Education: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Certification: Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CME) and re-certification.

Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

IN ADDITION to the basic requirements, this position requires one year of specialized experience as a certified physician assistant equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience providing primary, preventive, and emergency health care services overseas.
• Experience analyzing healthcare programs at U.S. government facilities abroad.
• Experience liaising with overseas medical providers, hospitals, labs, and public health officials.
