Job description

Overview

Please note this is an Overnight Shift - Friday through Tuesday (Four 10 hour shifts).The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day logistics operations of inbound product and materials shipping from supply vendors into the Distribution Centers, and outbound deliveries to all store locations, and other locations as needed. This position is responsible for ensuring that every planned shipment is scheduled and delivered in the most efficient and cost-effective manner while maintaining on-time and customer service standards as expected by both internal and external customers. The Transportation Coordinator is accountable for supporting and completing administrative processes and resolving process exceptions via utilization of various tracking systems and direct communication with Carriers, business leaders, drivers, and other internal and external associates. This role will strive for process improvement. 

Essential Functions
  • Resolve system tracking events that could lead to late or incomplete shipments.
  • Ensure that all required volume and financial information is completely and accurately documented.
  • Collaborate with Procurement team to assist in product flow and vendor management.
  • Assist with efficient load routing while seeking and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Manage performance of third-party carriers including track and trace, problem resolution, and long-term strategic goals.
  • Ensure fleet drivers are operating in compliance with all DOT regulations.
  • Lead and implement various projects and transportation initiatives as required.
  • Conduct operations in accordance with FMCSA and other related safety programs and regulations.
  • Oversee that accurate and timely status information is updated in appropriate tracking systems, handle incoming calls efficiently to reduce the driver and customer wait time and process incoming activities to ensure requests are
  • resolved in a timely manner.
  • Identify areas of improvement and work with leadership to ensure our customers are provided with excellent service.
  • Ability to work flexible/rotating shifts including weekends
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of tractors, trailers, and other transportation equipment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills, and ability to work on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast pace environment and comply with strict time frames and deadlines
