At TelCom Construction, the primary function of this position is to safely and efficiently transport equipment and materials used within the Utility Construction industry using lowboy and flatbed trailers.

What you’ll do

  • Operates tractor/trailer combinations, including lowboy and/or flatbed trailers including oversized loads;

  • Travels throughout the TelCom footprint including overnight/2-4 day assignments;

  • Operates loading equipment including industrial forklift;

  • Loads and unloads various construction equipment to and from transport trailers;

  • Communicates load contents, status and schedule in congruence with established company process;

  • Communicates maintenance and repair needs of Company vehicles and equipment;

  • Inspects materials being transported for damage during pre-load, transit and post-load stages and immediately communicates them;

  • Maintains up to date knowledge of and complies with all DOT requirements including but not limited to vehicle inspection, logging and any other documentation, load securement, etc;

  • Accurately and appropriately completes IFTA documentation;

  • Keeps up to date on roadway permit requirements. Applies for, obtains and complies with all transport permit requirements;

  • Follows all Company safety policies and procedures;

  • Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need

  • 2-4 years of Tractor/Trailer combination operations experience;

  • Unrestricted Class A CDL license with tanker endorsement and favorable driving record;

  • Ability to maintain a DOT health card;

  • Ability to regularly travel, work flexible hours and overtime as needed;

  • Previous experience hauling oversized equipment is preferred;

  • Previous experience operating construction equipment is preferred;

  • Effective and respectful written and verbal communication; Ability to work independently; • Willingness to learn including use of computer or other electronic devices;

  1. Frequent sit for extended periods of time consistent with long haul tractor/trailer driving;

  2. Constant use of hearing and sight;

  3. Occasionally climb, kneel, squat, bend, reach and twist;

  4. Occasionally stand on concrete surfaces;

  5. Occasionally work in adverse weather conditions and slippery or uneven surfaces;

  6. Frequent use of sight (specifically, close to perform computer work), hearing and voice;

  7. Lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis;

  8. Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs;

  9. Occasionally be in a loud environment;

  10. Be in an environment with consistent low-frequency noise;

  11. Wear required personal protective equipment.

The wage range for Equipment Transport Driver is $34.00 - $40.00 .
