Summary/Objective

To assist with the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment and hotel property. Position is responsible for working in a safe and conscientious manner. Must adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Essential Functions

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Patrols hotel property to ensure the safety of guests and team members and to protect all hotel assets. Answers house calls, assists guest and team members with respect to safety, security and hotel operations.
  • Investigates, records and reports any accidents, incidents or other issues necessary for the safe and efficient operation of the property and safety of guests and team members. Writes incident and accident reports, monitors investigations to their timely conclusion and ensures appropriate follow-up. Contacts, cooperates and collaborates with outside law enforcement agencies to report and investigate incidents/accidents.
  • Stays abreast of all security concerns, logs, reports and activities by reviewing information from prior shift, front desk staff, Manager on Duty, etc. Completes all shift logs and passes information on the front desk. Bring concerns to the attention of management.
  • Responds to all notifications of all unusual events or circumstances, or alleged theft.
  • Responsible for closing the pool and monitoring the pool area throughout the night.
  • Responsible for cleaning the floors in the public areas including the lobby and back offices.
  • Regularly assists other departments when needed. Assistance may include delivery of food and miscellaneous items to the guest rooms. Assisting with engineering tasks overnight. Assisting the front desk with delivering items, helping guests with luggage, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hotel equipment, facilities, and systems (including HVAC and electrical).
  • Must provide immediate follow-up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause; determine emergency status and report to Guest Services and General Manager with findings.
  • Performs routinely scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) activities throughout property, including guest rooms, grounds, public areas, and meeting rooms. Includes minor repairs and painting.
  • Respond to guest’s maintenance needs promptly and ensure guests receive professional, efficient, prompt, and courteous service to hotels standards.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on tools and maintains all tools and equipment used in performance of the job. Keeps tools orderly and in good working order.
  • Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety aspects of all mechanical equipment and storage rooms.
  • Ensure that proper records are kept relating to all equipment for the hotel including repair and service records.
  • Oversee compliance with OSHA standards regarding proper usage, dilution of products, equipment safety and usage as well as blood-borne pathogen precautions and procedures.
  • Ensure wearing proper uniform with name tag and uphold hotel grooming and hygiene standards.

  • Must have excellent customer service/communication skills to work with guests of various social, cultural, economic and education backgrounds for the purpose of resolving problems/complaints and providing a high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Completes required training as scheduled.
  • Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Requires attention to detail. must be able to solve problems and remain calm and alert if dealing with difficult guests, during busy activity periods or in an emergency situation.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English to understand instruction, safety rules, and communicate with guests and government agencies.
  • Able to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, team members may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. Work schedules will include working on holiday, weekends and alternate shifts.
  • Must maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor.
  • Must be able to stand and walk around for an 8-hour shift. Emergency situations May require running to secure a situation or provide emergency response.
  • Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly responsible and reliable.
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.

Work environment
