JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) offers a wide range of summer programs focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for students in grades 6-12. Our summer academic programs bring nearly 1,000 students to campus. Programs are one to four weeks in length, both day and residential. We offer programs such as aerospace engineering, biology, chemistry, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, and more! The Office of Pre-collegiate Outreach Programs is seeking to hire nurses to deliver health care for summer academic programs with participants in grades 6-12. Responsibilities include nursing care, medication administration, health teaching, triage, and data collection/verification of health forms. Nurses work autonomously, staffing the Summer Nurse Office and providing care as needed. This is a temporary position lasting approximately 6-8 weeks, not a full-time yearly position.

JOB DESCRIPTION

All applicants require excellent nursing and interpersonal skills, good judgement, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. The summer program nurses should demonstrate commitment to professional standards and continued professional development. Should be knowledgeable of our policies and procedures and follow these when providing patient care. Assume responsibility and accountability for quality of own nursing practice. A successful nurse will also exhibit a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and an interest to work with neurodivergent participants from diverse backgrounds.

Hours include afternoon, evening and overnight shifts. Overnight on-call on property shifts include a private area for sleeping. This position requires some weekend availability.

Number of weekly hours are flexible, but typically between 16-40.
