Job Summary:
The Process/Quality Engineer is responsible for improving manufacturing processes, equipment performance, and facility operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective production of high-quality products. This role provides technical leadership in process optimization, automation, troubleshooting, continuous improvement, and new product launches while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance productivity, quality, and operational performance.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for equipment concept, quoting, design, debugging, and production.
  • Provide technical support and training, to the operations team, tooling department, maintenance department, and outside vendor sources.
  • Troubleshoots problems with processes and hardware.
  • Work with programmable controllers, robots, and CNC equipment.
  • Provide technical support for and all health, safety, and environmental policies.
  • Support manufacturing through project activities to improve quality, consistency, and output by recommending, implementing, and documenting improvements. Documents shall be complete and easily readable, to allow faster troubleshooting.
  • Specify, order, and perform follow up for equipment purchases. Assure proper workmanship to American Trim's specifications.
  • Assist in the inspection of equipment for safety violations, hazards, and improvements.
  • Provide technical support on electrical controls, automation initiatives, and equipment improvements/upgrades.
  • Maintains equipment records.
  • Maintains programs schedules and cost performance to budget.
  • Other job duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in an engineering or technical discipline. Minimum three (3) years of experience with a manufacturing facility of high volume and automated equipment. Or equivalent.
  • Ability to synthesize complex or diverse information; use intuition, creativity, and experience to complement data; design workflows and procedures.
  • Proficiency in reading and creating electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings.
  • Ability to identify, define, and resolve problems in a timely manner by analyzing information skillfully, collecting data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and/or developing alternative solutions.
  • Ability to develop project plans; coordinate projects; communicate changes and progress; complete projects on time; and budget, develop, and implement cost saving measures.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks concurrently and plan work activities; use time efficiently.
  • Possesses good communication skills and leadership ability.
  • Ability to work as a team player, with focus on company objectives.
  • Proficient in computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment required to perform engineering tasks. Primarily 2D and, to a lesser extent, 3D.
  • The ideal candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, and Excel; should also be familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA). Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) are requirements of this position.
