Position Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, optimizing, and sustaining manufacturing processes that improve product quality, operational efficiency, safety, and cost performance across multiple manufacturing facilities. This position serves as a technical resource supporting production operations through process development, continuous improvement initiatives, CNC machining optimization, new product introduction, and manufacturing problem solving.
Working collaboratively with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and Engineering, the Process Engineer identifies opportunities to improve manufacturing performance while ensuring compliance with customer requirements, quality management systems, and applicable regulatory standards. This position primarily supports T amp;E Industries in Orange, New Jersey, while providing engineering support to ROW, Inc. in Addison, Illinois.
Essential Job Functions
  • Develop, implement, validate, document, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and process
  • documentation.
  • Analyze manufacturing workflows and production data to improve productivity, throughput, quality, safety, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support for CNC machining operations, including tooling selection, fixture design, machining parameters, cycle time improvements, and process optimization.
  • Investigate manufacturing issues using structured problem-solving methodologies and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), process transfers, equipment installations, process qualifications, and manufacturing readiness activities.
  • Lead or facilitate Lean Manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen events, value stream mapping, visual management, standardized work, and waste reduction projects.
  • Conduct process capability studies, statistical process control (SPC) analysis, PFMEA development, Control Plan creation, process validation, and manufacturing risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering to investigate nonconforming product, customer complaints, and internal quality issues using root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Evaluate manufacturing equipment, tooling, and process technologies while recommending improvements that enhance operational performance and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to support engineering change implementation, production startup activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare technical reports, engineering documentation, process metrics, and project updates for leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Promote safe work practices while supporting compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and quality management systems.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • An equivalent combination of education and directly related manufacturing engineering experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive process engineering experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting CNC machining operations and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five (5) or more years of manufacturing process engineering experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, medical device, precision machining, engineered polymers, seals, O-rings, or related manufacturing industries.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/CAM software and CNC programming fundamentals.
  • Experience supporting multiple manufacturing facilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing process development and process optimization.
  • Working knowledge of CNC machining processes, tooling, fixtures, and machining practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD amp;T), specifications, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), process validation, and capability analysis.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities with the capability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing-related software applications.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while working independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand and walk throughout manufacturing facilities for extended periods.
  • Frequently use hands and fingers to operate computers, tools, measuring devices, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to climb stairs, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach as required while supporting manufacturing operations.

Work Environment
This position is performed within office and manufacturing environments. The employee will regularly be exposed to manufacturing equipment, moving machinery, moderate to loud noise levels, temperature variations, oils, coolants, and other industrial conditions. Travel between manufacturing facilities is expected to support engineering projects, process improvements, equipment implementation, and operational initiatives.
