Wachter is accepting applications for an Electrical and Low Voltage Combination Technician at various locations across the United States. 
 
We seek self-motivated and reliable technicians for service and special installation projects, who can work independently and find solutions to complete the job. Position Summary

The Electrical and Low Voltage Combination Technician will support infrastructure initiatives across multiple and continuous retail sites with a strong emphasis on travel-based field work. This role combines electrical expertise with low voltage/data experience to support critical network, power, and infrastructure upgrades. Because these upgrades occur during off-hours to avoid site disruption, this position requires nearly exclusive overnight work (typically 10:00 PM - 7:00 AM) and the ability to work irregular hours based on project needs. Extensive travel, including overnight stays for up to multiple weeks at a time, is required.  

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and replace network switches and related hardware
  • Mount, hang, rework or relocate IDF cabinets and associated components
  • Perform disconnect/reconnect of electrical power in accordance with safety and compliance standards
  • Reconfigure or relocate electrical circuits when required for cabinet moves or equipment changes
  • Conduct MDF and IDF room cleanups, including cable management, labeling, re-termination and documentation
  • Execute re-cabling projects for departments or operational areas needing infrastructure refresh. 
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, network maps and construction plans
  • Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, low voltage standards, safety procedures and company guidelines
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, internal stakeholders and site contacts to coordinate work and provide updates 
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used and conditions found
  • Troubleshoot electrical or network related issues onsite and recommend corrective actions
  • Travel extensively to assigned sites, often with short notice, to support project schedules
Required Qualifications
  • Electrical Journeyman or Apprentice license
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical, low voltage or data infrastructure work
  • Proven experience with network equipment installation, including switches and rack mounted components
  • Ability to safely disconnect/reconnect power and perform basic electrical modifications
  • Strong understanding of MDF/IDF best practices, cable management and structured cabling standards
  • Ability to lift, mount and secure heavy cabinets and equipment up to 75 pounds
  • Valid Driver's License and the ability to travel 75-100% of the time
  • Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of providing clear status updates and work documentation
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined or elevated spaces
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in retail, warehouse or large enterprise environments
  • Familiarity with NEC, TIA/EIA cabling standards and OSHA safety guidelines
  • Experience with fiber optic termination, network testing tools and cable certification hardware
  • Ability to lead or guide contractors or small teams onsite
