What is the salary for robotics and automation?

Salaries for robotics and automation professionals vary based on experience, location, and specific roles, but entry-level positions typically start around $60,000 to $80,000 annually, while experienced engineers can earn over $100,000. Skills in programming, control systems, and familiarity with robotics tools can influence earning potential.

What do you do in robotics and automation?

In robotics and automation, professionals design, develop, and maintain robotic systems and automated processes used in manufacturing, logistics, and other industries. They work with programming languages, sensors, and control systems to improve efficiency and safety, often requiring knowledge of engineering principles and technical skills. The role involves troubleshooting, system integration, and continuous optimization of automated solutions.

Which 5 jobs will survive AI?

In robotics automation, jobs such as robotics engineers, automation technicians, systems integrators, AI specialists, and maintenance managers are likely to persist as they require complex problem-solving, hands-on skills, and ongoing system oversight that are difficult for AI to fully replace. These roles often involve designing, programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining robotic systems, emphasizing technical expertise and adaptability. Continuous learning and certification in robotics tools and programming languages enhance job security in this field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Robotics Automation, and why are they important?

To excel in Robotics Automation, you need a solid background in engineering or computer science, with expertise in robotics, automation systems, and programming languages such as Python or C++. Familiarity with PLC programming, CAD software, and industry certifications like Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or Siemens/ABB robotics credentials is highly valued. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective teamwork help professionals adapt to complex challenges and drive innovation. These competencies are crucial for designing, implementing, and maintaining efficient automated systems that enhance productivity and safety.

What are robotics automation engineers?

Robotics automation engineers are professionals who design, build, and maintain automated robotic systems used in industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and logistics. They work on integrating robots with existing processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and safety. Their responsibilities often include programming robots, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with other engineers to optimize automation solutions. A strong background in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering is essential for this role.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in robotics automation, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in robotics automation often encounter challenges such as integrating new robotic systems with existing processes, troubleshooting hardware or software malfunctions, and keeping up with rapid technological advancements. Addressing these challenges typically involves continuous learning, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams (like IT, engineering, and operations), and actively participating in training or certification programs. Open communication and a problem-solving mindset are essential for adapting to evolving technologies and ensuring smooth implementation of automation solutions.

What is the difference between In Robotics Automation vs Robotics Engineer?

AspectIn Robotics AutomationRobotics Engineer
CredentialsTypically requires a degree in engineering, computer science, or related fields; certifications in automation or robotics are commonRequires a degree in robotics, mechanical, electrical, or computer engineering; certifications in robotics or automation are advantageous

Job description

Prime Robotics is growing fast, and we're looking for a seasoned Sales Engineer who can own the technical side of complex enterprise deals, from discovery through close. You'll be the bridge between our robotics product line and the operational realities of warehouse, e-commerce, and manufacturing customers. This is a senior individual contributor role with direct impact on revenue.

The ideal candidate brings deep warehouse automation fluency, a track record closing multi-million-dollar deals, and the credibility to present at the C- and SVP-level.

The Role:

  • Become the internal authority on Prime Robotics' full product portfolio within your first 60 days.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions to uncover customer pain points and design tailored automation solutions - including labor reduction modeling and ROI analysis.
  • Drive the full sales cycle alongside our commercial team, from qualification and solution concepting through proposal, executive presentation, and close.
  • Engage SVP- and director-level stakeholders across warehouse, e-commerce, and manufacturing sectors to build trusted advisor relationships.
  • Act as a go-to-market resource for pre-commercial and emerging product lines, identifying new use cases and leading pilot programs.
  • Partner with engineering and customer success teams to ensure seamless handoffs and high client satisfaction through implementation.
  • Apply data science and process automation tools to accelerate the requirements analysis and proposal process.

Requirements

Who you are:

  • 5+ years in solutions engineering, sales engineering, or technical consulting within warehouse automation, material handling, or robotics.
  • Hands-on experience with automation technologies such as ASRS, AMRs, AutoStore, shuttle systems, WMS/WES, sortation, or pick-to-light/voice/vision.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles for deals in the $1M-$50M+ range.
  • Comfort presenting technical solutions and financial business cases to C-suite and SVP-level audiences.
  • Strong quantitative skills - you can build ROI models, forecast labor savings, and size solutions based on operational data.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, Configura) and simulation/modeling software; familiarity with data science tools (Python, SQL) is a plus.
  • Excellent project management skills; PMP or Six Sigma certification a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field; MBA a plus.

The minimum expected base salary for this role is $120,000 annually informed by external market data. Actual offers will depend on factors such as the candidate's experience, education, training, key or critical skills, and current market and business conditions.

Our hiring process may incorporate AI-assisted tools to support activities such as application review, resume screening, and response evaluation. These tools are used to assist our recruitment team and do not make hiring decisions independently. All final decisions are made by a human reviewer.
