Job Description: Position / Specialty: Med/Surg* Call In Expectation: If a traveler calls in for a shift, they will be required to pick up another shift to make up for the call-in. Shift: 3x12 Days Weekend REQ: minimum 3 weekends in 6 week period. Shift time 6p-6:30a NO MORE THAN 5 DAYS OF RTO On-call REQ? Possibility of being placed on call. Floating Requirements: Possibility of being floated depending on unit/hospital needs. Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours Ratios: 1:5 Years of experience REQ: 1 yr First-timers accepted: Yes Certs REQ: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS Please Note: Travelers cannot start without their PALS certificate. PALS is required for med surg RNs per Witham Health Services policy, as we admit pediatrics to this unit. Locals accepted: Yes, travelers are considered local if they live within 50 miles radius of the hospital. If they are local, they will have a $15 rate differential.

RNs are responsible for primary nursing and need to communicate with techs throughout the shift for help (techs float often). Vitals and phlebotomy are RNs responsibility. Charges have reduced assignments. Need to be comfortable with peds population. Acuity Level for Peds on MS: Low acuity, observation status. Most are post op tonsillectomy patients that come up from surgery mid-day and are discharged the following morning. We monitor for pain control and bleeding. During flu season we will see Flu/RSV kids who may need overnight observation and IV fluids or oxygen via nasal cannula. Compliance: RTO- Max amount of RTO is 7 days. If RTO is during the holidays, travelers must be willing to work 1 of the 3 holidays # of jobs in the system we can sub 1 only Requires a specific amount of exp. 1 -2 preferred experiences, will accept first-time travelers. A valid state license is not required at the time of submission but the candidate must be willing to obtain before starting Candidates will float within the hospital or to an affiliate hospital nearby Depending on volume/census Copy of Certifications - Traveler agrees to obtain all required certs before starting. Will take pending certs Background Policy to be noted before submission Nursys only Return Staff Policy must be gone 3 years before returning as a traveler The travelers need to complete up to 8 hours of modules within 1 week of signing for Witham Preferred
