Description:

Position Overview

Bethel Care Group is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to join our long-term care team. In addition to performing all duties of a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), the CMA is responsible for administering prescribed medications and routine medical treatments under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. This role is essential to maintaining resident health, safety, and comfort in a clean and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer oral, topical, and other prescribed medications in accordance with state regulations and physician orders
  • Perform routine medical treatments as directed (e.g., eye drops, inhalers, ointments)
  • Document medication administration and resident responses accurately and timely
  • Monitor and report any adverse reactions, changes in condition, or medication refusals to nursing staff
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility
  • Support residents during meals, including assistance with feeding and meal preparation
  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, room tidiness, and basic cleaning tasks
  • Promote a respectful and safe environment by adhering to infection control and facility safety procedures
  • Collaborate with the care team to ensure continuity of care and excellent resident outcomes


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Active Kansas CMA certification in good standing
  • Active Kansas CNA certification (required for CMA credential)
  • Experience in a long-term care or assisted living setting preferred
  • Knowledge of safe medication administration practices and documentation
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and facility guidelines
  • Strong interpersonal, observational, and communication skills
  • Must pass all background checks and required health screenings

Essential Physical and Health Requirements

To perform this job safely and effectively, the employee must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for long periods (up to 8โ€“12 hours per shift)
  • Lift, move, and assist residents with or without assistive devices (up to 50 lbs independently; up to 100 lbs with assistance)
  • Bend, kneel, reach, and twist frequently during care tasks and medication administration
  • Perform repetitive motions such as pouring medications, feeding, and repositioning residents
  • Have functional vision and hearing (corrected if needed) to observe residents, read medication labels, and respond to alarms or calls
  • Handle exposure to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and standard healthcare environment conditions
  • Use manual dexterity to open medication packaging, operate carts, and complete documentation
  • Meet all required immunizations and health screenings per facility and state regulations
