About Us

The JW Marriott Nashville Hotel offers the ideal location for leisure, business and meeting guests in the heart of downtown Nashville, adjacent to the state-of-the-art Music City Center. The first-to-market JW Marriott property includes 533 guestrooms, inclusive of 37 suites, along with a broad array of amenities. The 33-story hotel features 50,000 square feet of indoor function space, an expansive 10,000 square-foot outdoor pool and lounging deck overlooking the city skyline, Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, as well as a 15,000 square foot event lawn.

General Summary of Duties:

The Safety & Security Officer is responsible for patrolling the hotel, monitoring CCTV, and assisting guests with room access while providing exceptional guest service.


Examples of Duties (includes but is not limited to the following):

  • Patrol all areas of the property; secure rooms; assist guests with room access
  • Monitor Closed Circuit Televisions and alarm systems
  • Authorize, monitor, and document access to secured areas
  • Follow up on all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the wellbeing of external and internal guests
  • Defuse disturbances in accordance with Hotel policies and procedures
  • Escort unwelcome persons from the property
  • Assist external and internal guests during emergency situations
  • Respond to accidents, contact EMS or administer first aid/CPR as required
  • Assist the Director and Manager of Safety & Security in administering fire prevention programs and emergency preparedness
  • Comply with applicable federal, state and local law and safety regulations
  • Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to speak, read, write and understand English
  • Professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, come of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger and collect accurate information
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure and work independently is required

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Typical Physical / Mental Demands:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch
  • Ability to grasp, lift, carry or transport up to 50 pounds
  • Must have good near and far vision
  • Must be able to hear, talk, smell
