Job description

TITLE: Cycle Counter/Scheduler

STATUS:Hourly

LOCATION:Toccoa

DEPARTMENT: Materials

REPORTS TO:Materials Supervisor

PURPOSE:

To perform the production processin order tooptimize the use of all resources in meeting and/or exceeding established plant goals and client/customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must be able tomaintainsafety compliance in all work environments.
  • Ability to productively learn andperformcycle counts in the parts room, maintenance, paint room, warehouse, mill, and office storage areas.
  • Must be able to accurately count and record raw materials, MRO materials, and all other materials asdeemednecessary.
  • Must have a willingness towork in a team environment, and support finance related functions.
  • Must be able to learncomputer softwarerelativetojob functionsand cycle counting.
  • Must be able to effectively provide training to back-up clerks and conduct team training to various department teams as related tomaintaininginventory accuracy.
  • Must have the ability to read and follow all Corporate and Plant finance policies and procedures as they relate tothe functional responsibilities.
  • Must be able to work various hours, including off shift, split shift, and early and late first shift hours. Will berequiredto work mandatory overtime in a limitedcapacity.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with clients to improve all plant processes and costs.
  • Must be able make recommendations andimprovementto department clients and managers regardless of the perceived improvement impact.
  • Must report all required finance and production data/information accurately and timely.
  • Perform other duties as directed by thePlant Controller.
  • Capability of creating schedules for Cut to Size, Cross Cut, Rip Saws and Strip Line and monitoring of zero orders and yields when scheduling

    Create purchase orders for raw materials

    Complete receiving procedures in MRP Comp and Epicore Systems

    Complete all functions relative to scheduling material to all areas of the plant through HPO

    Learn/execute shipping procedures for trucks in computer system, trailer report, shipping log, daily pallet check and follow-up processes

    Assist in preparing for and conducting cycle counts as needed on a monthly basis.

    Daily review and research of any past due purchase orders.

Education, Experience and Skills

  1. High School Diploma/GED preferred, in lieu of education, extensive knowledge of all processes associated within the scope of the respective team may be considered
  1. Manufacturing/work experience and willingness to learn tooperaterequired positions in the team assigned

  1. Experience performing duties in a team environment committed to positive performance and SQDC goal achievement

Language Skills:

Must read, analyze, and interpret common business documents such as packing lists, manifests, bills of lading, pallet tickets, or job orders. Must communicate effectively with co-workers and customers/clientsin an effort torespond to commoninquiresor complaints.

Mathematical Skills:

Use basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction,multiplicationand division to such tasks as inventory control, material ordering, and job order verification.

Reasoning Skills:

Perceive problems, collect data,establishfacts, and draw valid conclusions.Interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly required tosee, hear, crouch, use stairs to access work area, stand, bend, reach and feel with hands and arms and walk for entirety of shift. The employeefrequentlyis required touse hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee isfrequentlyrequired tolift upto 40 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoor and outdoor manufacturing environment.The noise level is usually moderate to high and requires the use of hearing protection.Safety protection, glasses, hearing, and gloves arerequired. Overtime required per overtime policy as production demands.
