Job Summary

Corporate Affairs strategists will have depth of experience in all aspects of corporate affairs: communications, community affairs, corporate giving, and media relations.
Communications include interaction with leaders and employees, corporate positioning on government, regulatory, legislative, and other public policy issues, and business initiatives.
The Corporate Affairs team helps the company achieve its objectives and drive effectiveness by influencing stakeholder behaviors. We identify key stakeholders and deliver messaging to the greater community and provide Vistra leadership with information about views in the external environment. Additionally, the team is to deliver recommendations for policies and programs that positively impact Vistra businesses, and enhance the vitality of our customers, employees, the communities, and other company stakeholders.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Provide well-written, researched, validated, clear, consistent business communications on a range of topics that span company announcements, leadership communication, meeting presentations, multimedia, scripts, key messages, and talking points.
Deliver key messages to employees, the community, third-party organizations and associations, opinion leaders, and elected officials.
Participate in cross-functional teams or projects leveraging broad corporate affairs expertise.
Identify and build relationships with communities and stakeholders necessary for successful message saturation and impact based on size of customer base, and political sensitivity, etc.
Propose communications strategies and tactics and work directly within other departments to accomplish tasks.
Maintain a working understanding of current events along with industry news and trends.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

5+ years of relevant work experience in communications, public relations, journalism
Experience in government, regulatory, or public issues communications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Familiarity with photography and videography a plus
Ability to detect issues and correctly interpret and communicate information
Strong knowledge and awareness of corporate communications and news media
Knowledge of energy industry and/or competitive businesses
Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
Self-managed overnight travel required
HS Diploma or equivalency
