Job description

Veterinary Technician, Overnight Emergency

Mission Veterinary in Mission, KS is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Overnight Emergency team. This full-time role offers the opportunity to work alongside board-certified specialists, care for a diverse emergency and critical care caseload, and utilize advanced equipment and techniques in a 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital.

Compensation

  • $25+ per hour, based on experience
  • $1,000 sign-on bonus
  • $2,500 relocation bonus for qualified applicants
  • $3.00 per hour overnight stipend for hours worked between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM
  • $1.50 per hour weekend differential from midnight Saturday morning through midnight Sunday night

Schedule

  • Full-time
  • Four 10-hour overnight shifts
  • Overnight differential applies to hours worked between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM
  • Weekend differential applies from midnight Saturday morning through midnight Sunday night

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality patient care as a Licensed Veterinary Technician on the Overnight Emergency team.
  • Monitor and care for emergency and critical patients throughout the overnight shift.
  • Assist veterinarians and board-certified specialists with emergency procedures, treatments, diagnostics, and patient care.
  • Perform and assist with technical procedures, treatments, medication administration, catheter placement, sample collection, and patient monitoring within your scope of practice.
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and promptly communicate changes in patient condition to the veterinary team.
  • Utilize advanced imaging, monitoring equipment, and other technology to support emergency and critical care.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple patients in a fast-paced Emergency and specialty hospital.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and document treatments, diagnostics, and changes in patient status.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members regarding patient care.
  • Maintain a calm, compassionate, and professional approach when working with patients and families during stressful or emotional situations.
  • Work collaboratively with veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and other overnight team members to provide consistent patient care.
  • Participate in ongoing learning and development opportunities to expand your emergency and critical care knowledge and technical skills.
  • After gaining appropriate knowledge and experience, train, coach, mentor, and teach newer Veterinary Technicians and team members.
  • Contribute to a supportive team environment focused on quality medicine, patient care, and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Current Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) credential required.
  • Experience working as a Veterinary Technician in a veterinary hospital setting.
  • Experience or strong interest in emergency and critical care.
  • Strong foundation in veterinary medicine and patient care.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple patients and remain composed in a fast-paced emergency environment.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively during overnight shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate medical record documentation.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working with veterinarians, board-certified specialists, and other Veterinary Technicians in a specialty and emergency setting.
  • Willingness to learn new and advanced techniques and continue developing clinical skills.
  • Ability to provide and receive mentorship, guidance, and feedback in a team environment.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.
