Position Summary

The Clinical Systems Coordinator serves as the primary clinical information systems resource and liaison between patient care areas, ancillary departments, Information Systems (IS), system vendors, and physicians. This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, optimizing, and educating users on clinical information systems to ensure efficient and effective patient care operations.

Reports To: Director of Information Systems

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Location: This is an on-site position and is not eligible for remote work. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the facility, generally no more than one hour from the work location.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN) required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience required

Licensure

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required

Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong presentation and information-sharing abilities
  • Familiarity with the organization and functions of hospital departments
  • Effective problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to manage stress and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with nursing personnel, medical staff, administration, and all hospital departments
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain all clinical systems master and security files, including routine editing and file maintenance
  • Monitor and analyze system usage and recommend procedural and functional improvements to optimize performance
  • Assist clinical and ancillary departments with the design and development of specialized reports
  • Plan, coordinate, troubleshoot, implement, and evaluate installation of new clinical software and system upgrades
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new clinical information systems and services
  • Develop and maintain documentation and user manuals for end users and Information Systems staff
  • Evaluate, plan, coordinate, and provide system training and education for end users and IS support staff
  • Provide orientation, in-service training, and continuing education for hospital staff
  • Initiate, document, and monitor clinical system service calls and follow up with vendors and end users as needed
  • Respond promptly and appropriately to inquiries, requests, and support calls
  • Lead and initiate process improvement efforts within the department and across shared operational areas
  • Participate in Total Quality Management (TQM) teams as assigned
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient, employee, physician, and hospital information
  • Exercise discretion and professionalism when discussing patient and hospital matters
