Field Service Engineer

Reports to: Service Manager

Job Descriptions

Summary/Objective

The Field Service Technician position is responsible for performing diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain sawing machinery while on site at customers locations throughout all of North America. When not traveling service engineer needs to report in person to Tsune America.

Field Service Technician Essential Functions

  • Install and repair CNC sawing machinery throughout North America.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of sawing equipment and perform scheduled preventative maintenance repairs during service.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of sawing machinery.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance on sawing machinery.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to service manager.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Prepare and complete service reports; record service hours.
  • Prepare and complete expense reports and submit in a timely manner.
  • Travel Required.

Supervisory Responsibility

The Field Service Technician position has no supervisory responsibilities

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud and dirty.

Physical Demands

The Field Service Technician/Service Engineer position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The service engineer must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

The Field Service Technician/Service Engineer is a full-time position and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 4:15 pm depending on travel and customer’s working hours.

Travel

Estimated travel for the Service Engineer position is 75%. Expect to be on the road Monday-Thursday at the least and return home for the weekend.

Required Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship or and equivalent number of years of education and production maintenance experience.

2. 2+ years of strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and industrial skills with some PLC experience.
