The University of Miami Frost School of Music has an exciting opportunity for a temporary part time Frost Chopin Academy & Festival Camp Counselor to work in Coral Gables, FL.

The Camp Counselor will be responsible for the daily activities and supervision of the summer camp dorm program and the safety of all camp dorm residents while following UM Department of Summer Conference Housing rules.
They will report to the Program General Manager Inesa Gegprifti, and Artistic Director Kevin Kenner.


Terms of Employment: June Camp Session (check-in on June 14, 2026, check-out on June 22, 2026).

Job Dates, Hours:
Check-in: June 14, 2026, 2:00 PM
Check-out: June 21, 2026, 11:00 AM
Exact on-duty hours will be detailed in an attachment.
Camp Counselor Zoom Orientation: Monday, June 1, 2026 at 2:00 PM

Department Specific Functions:
Ensure camper medical release forms are stored in UM's Box cloud service and maintain/update a binder of medical forms.
Ensure dorm campers are awake at the pre-determined times for the start of the camp day. Daily attendance records will be maintained in the morning and evening.
Escort under-18 dorm camper to breakfast and to the Frost School of Music (FSoM) for camp activities on alternating days of night shift, assisted by daily staff assistants.
Meet campers at FSoM after daily camp activities have concluded and walk the under-18 campers back to the dorm.
Establish direct contact with all under 18 campers through pre-determined application (Slack, WhatsApp, etc).
On-Call Activities:
o Will be 'on-call' for overnight emergencies per the work schedule document.
o For campers needing urgent or emergency assistance overnight, the Dorm Counselor must (examples will be provided in training/orientation):
Seek immediate assistance with the "On-Call" Night Counselor.
Notify the Camp Director about urgent or emergency matters.
Notify the on-call Security Assistant and/or
Contact 911 for emergencies, then contact the Program Director immediately.
o For campers needing non-emergency assistance overnight, the Dorm Counselor should work with the "On-Call" Night Counselor or Managing Director to resolve the matter.
Conduct daily room checks to ensure University Housing procedures are followed.
Assist with the camper check-in and check-out process on the first and last day of camp.
Assist with the camper check-out procedure of campers leaving by car on the evening of the last day of camp.
Ensure dorm room keys are returned, accounted for, and no items are left behind in dorm rooms after check-out.
Assist with the departure of campers traveling by air or car on the day after the conclusion of the camp session.

This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:
Enrolled in an undergraduate college degree program or completed a BM degree.
Exceptional leadership and communication skills required to supervise teenage campers and lead dorm
counselors.


Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
