Job description

The EEG Technologist provides expertise to the EEG and EMU departments. The EEG Technologist is credentialed in EEG (R. EEG T.). providing general oversight of the EEG Technologist Assistant and EEG Technologist Entry. The EEG Technologist independently obtains high quality, artifact-free neurodiagnostic studies on patients in the outpatient laboratory andor at the patient's bedside. Performs tasks in partnership with the care team to ensure patient comfort and safety while the patient is being evaluated. The EEG technologist is qualified to provide a descriptive analysis of waveforms and patterns but is not responsible for the interpretation of data. Performs routine as well as more advanced testing per program guidelines.

Job Information: 0.5 FTE, 20 hours/week
Shift Details: Monday - Friday overnight shift; 2x10 hour shifts
RESPONSIBILITIES
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.
1. Performs routine and limited advanced EEG procedures, in the lab and/or at the bedside.
2. Performs special procedures such as PET, SPECT, ECS, Neonatal EEG's, GRID placement, ECOG and VNS per program guidelines.
3. Observes, notates, and analyzes ongoing clinical and technical changes, adjusting the testing procedures as appropriate for individual recording session.
4. Maintains current knowledge to ensure a safe working environment and demonstrate practical application of all policies & procedures relative to safety, infection control, standard precautions, and risk management.
5. Completes thorough documentation for procedure being conducted.
6. Follows the International 10-20 system for proper electrode application.
7. Ensures ACNS Guidelines are followed for all Neurodiagnostic procedures.
8. Ensures special projects are completed during non-patient care down time. Including following up with archiving of records.
9. Assists in maintaining equipment. Participates with keeping lab in good and clean condition. Reports malfunctions to department leadership as needed.
10. Identifies and performs technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in Electroneurodiagnostics including completion of clinicals and six months of pediatric experience.
CERTIFICATION(S): BLS for Healthcare Providers/CPR
Licensure(s): Registration or Credential -ABRET Registered Electroencephalographic Technologist (R.EEG.T)
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $30.04 to $45.06.
Relocation assistance available to qualified candidates if relocating from 100 miles or greater. Conditions may apply.
