Harmon Concrete & Construction, Inc. is hiring full-time seasonal Concrete Laborers and experienced Finishers. Temporary summer positions also available. Concrete installation experience preferred but not required for Concrete Laborers.  3+ years of finishing experience required for Finisher positions.

General Description:

Perform a variety of physical tasks to assist with the preparation and installation of exterior concrete, including curb/gutter, sidewalk, driveway aprons, and miscellaneous flatwork for street, highway, commercial and residential construction.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The duties described below are common functions and tasks performed by individuals in these positions. This is not an exhaustive list of all job responsibilities and therefore other duties may be assigned.

Concrete Laborer

  • Load and unload materials, supplies, and work tools to and from trucks and project site daily
  • Clean and prepare surface/site for placement of concrete
  • Set and align concrete forms, pins and string line
  • Place wire mesh and tie rebar to reinforce concrete
  • Spread, level and smooth freshly poured concrete using a shovel, rake, screed and float;  assit with other concrete finishing tasks as assigned
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools
  • Operate small equipment and skid steer
  • Maintain a clean and safe job site
  • Clean jobsite/work area and work trucks at the end of the day
  • Ensure tools, material and equipment is properly secured and stored
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and daily safety assessments as instructed
  • Perform miscellaneous tasks as instructed by Foreman

Cement Finisher – In addition to all Essential Duties above:

  • Pour, smooth and finish concrete with use of screeds, floats, trowels, and broom
  • Apply compounds and sealers to finished concrete and ensure adequate supplies
  • Monitor the effects of weather conditions such as heat, cold, and wind during the concrete curing process and adjust accordingly
  • Ensure concrete finish meets project specifications and quality standards
  • Assist with training new employees and employees advancing into a Finisher role

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50+ lbs), walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and inclement weather
  • Adhere to and comply with safety practices and procedures at all time
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times
  • Willinginess to learn from others and through personal effort
  • Ability to follow instructions and take direction from Foreman, Supervisor(s), Managment and others  
  • Accurately report daily work time to Foreman
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment by communicating and working well with others  
  • Demonstrate self-initiative and motivation to work  
  • Regular and reliable attendance is a must
  • Reliable transportation required; valid driver's license preferred 
  • Pre-employment drug screening required
  • Some daily travel and occasional overnight travel
