Requirements
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Clinical expertise is required preferably in an ED and/or HM setting, nursing experience desired
  • Quality Improvement/ Quality Assurance background very beneficial
  • Proven CPT and ICD-10 coding experience
  • AAPC preferred
  • CPC certification preferred
  • Strong analytical and statistical skills and experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Zoom, Outlook, Zenith a plus)
  • Ability to support multiple persons, tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to handle stress and conflict
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
  • This is a remote position.
  • Some travel may be required (out-of-town and overnight; via vehicle and commercial/commuter airplanes)
  • Moderate to heavy stress levels
  • Occasional lifting, bending, standing, stooping and reaching
  • Moderate to prolonged sitting; and
  • Moderate to prolonged work at a PC/Computer.

External Job Description and Responsibilities
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Clinician Documentation Educators are responsible for collaborating with clinicians to offer documentation education to facilitate excellent patient care, reduce medical risk and ensure compliance with reimbursement guidelines. This role is designed to support and hold clinicians accountable for accurate, complete and thorough documentation of their patient care activities. These goals are achieved through initial clinician education, monitoring clinicians' documentation performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and providing on-going training. Educational efforts are prescriptive and tailored to specific documentation needs, aligned with industry standards, company best practices and analysis of current and trended documentation data.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinates documentation efforts in an effective, efficient manner, with an emphasis on educating new clinicians, supportive education of existing clinicians, and education on targeted documentation strategies.
  • Reviews and evaluates clinician documentation to identify trends, compliance issues, and opportunities for documentation improvement using TeamHealth benchmarks and industry standards.
  • Provides clinician specific, individualized feedback incorporating examples of their own documentation and aligning with billing/coding requirements and compliance/legal expectations.
  • Delivers clinician education through various methods.
  • Communicates in a timely fashion to clinicians regarding any changes to the current documentation guidelines as related to government regulations, payer policy and/or TeamHealth standards.
  • Collaborates with hospital personnel, as needed, to address documentation needs to support billing/coding operations.
  • Supports Facility Leadership with implementation of templates and documentation initiatives to ensure consistency and compliance across TeamHealth facilities.
  • Create documentation education materials assigned by CDE Director. Maintain education materials updated to current documentation requirements and TeamHealth standards.
