Overnight care refers to professional assistance provided to individuals during nighttime hours, typically in their homes or care facilities. This service is often used for elderly individuals, people with disabilities, or those recovering from surgery who may need help with tasks such as medication reminders, bathroom assistance, mobility support, or simply having someone present for safety and reassurance. Overnight caregivers may stay awake throughout the night or sleep nearby, depending on the client's needs. The primary goal is to ensure the individual's safety, comfort, and well-being during the night.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an overnight caregiver, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Overnight Caregiver, you need experience in personal care, basic first aid, and a high school diploma or equivalent, with some employers preferring certification such as CPR or CNA. Familiarity with patient monitoring systems, medication administration protocols, and digital recordkeeping tools is often required. Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills help caregivers build trust with clients and respond effectively to their needs during night hours. These skills ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of clients who require attentive care outside regular daytime hours.

What are some typical challenges faced by overnight care professionals, and how can they manage them effectively?

Overnight care professionals often face challenges such as maintaining alertness during overnight hours, managing unexpected medical or behavioral incidents, and ensuring clear communication during shift handovers. To manage these challenges, it’s important to establish a consistent sleep routine outside of work, stay organized with detailed shift notes, and utilize checklists for client care tasks. Many facilities also support overnight staff with training in emergency response and provide access to on-call supervisors for guidance during critical situations.

Do you love dogs more than most people? Are you the type who doesn't mind a little dirt, slobber, and lots of tail wags in your day? If you're compassionate, fun-loving, and passionate about animals, we want to meet you!
About the Role:
We're looking for a reliable, pet-oriented team member to join our guest care and dog handling crew. While there's a touch of customer service involved, the majority of your time will be spent one-on-one with our canine guests-providing care, playtime, and plenty of affection.
What You'll Do:
  • Engage with dogs of all sizes, temperaments, and energy levels
  • Feed, clean, and care for boarding or daycare dogs
  • Monitor dog behavior and ensure a safe play environment
  • Light cleaning and facility upkeep (yes, it gets a little dirty sometimes!)
  • Greet pet parents and provide updates or answer basic questions

What We're Looking For:
  • A fun, upbeat, and dependable personality
  • Someone who truly loves dogs and isn't afraid of getting a little muddy
  • Physically able to be on your feet, lift 30-50 lbs, and move around easily
  • Comfort around all dog breeds and behaviors
  • Team player with great communication skills
  • Previous experience with animals is a bonus but not required-we'll train the right person!

Perks of the Pack:
  • Work in a fun, rewarding environment with animals every day
  • Opportunities for growth and training in pet care
  • Discounted pet services
  • Lowest Incident rate for pets and handlers around
  • Low dog to handler ratio

Compensation: $11.00 - $12.00 per hour
We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
LIVE UNLEASHED!
Company Purpose To unleash love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, and gentleness into the world.
Mission: Our mission is to celebrate and promote a positive emotional bond between humans and dogs through providing a healthy, fun, interactive and loving environment in which dogs thrive. We do this by specializing in the daily and overnight care of dogs, enrichment activities, and other select services.
