This role is responsible for managing and supporting hybrid infrastructure for industrial and commercial customers, including Microsoft 365, Azure IaaS, Windows Server, and identity services. The engineer leads and supports cloud migration activities, monitors system health and performance, implements security controls aligned with industrial cybersecurity frameworks, and serves as an escalation resource for complex technical issues. Success in this role requires strong communication, critical thinking, and adaptability, along with the ability to operate effectively in environments that bridge enterprise IT and operational technology (OT).
Essential Functions

  • Implement, maintain, and support local and cloud-based storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions for mixed IT/OT environments.
  • Develop and maintain backup strategies and disaster recovery plans aligned to customer risk and availability requirements.
  • Use scripting and automation tools (PowerShell, Bicep, Terraform) to streamline deployments, enforce standards, and improve service efficiency.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex infrastructure, identity, and cloud incidents, providing advanced diagnostics and resolution support.
  • Configure, manage, and secure Microsoft 365 services, including licensing, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune/Configuration Manager, and AI/Copilot capabilities.
  • Apply cloud security controls such as Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access, MFA, and role-based access control (RBAC) in accordance with Zero Trust, NIST, and IEC 62443 frameworks.
  • Lead and support cloud migration initiatives for email, files, servers, and applications within manufacturing and critical infrastructure environments.
  • Support hybrid network architectures, including segmentation, subnetting, routing, DNS, and firewall policies across corporate and industrial networks.
  • Implement and support secure connectivity solutions such as VPNs, private endpoints, ExpressRoute, and SD-WAN to enable secure IT/OT data integration.
  • Monitor infrastructure availability, performance, and security using Azure monitoring platforms and remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve cloud, identity, and infrastructure incidents affecting managed IT/OT environments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and industrial customers to explain technical solutions and align expectations.
  • Analyze complex hybrid IT/OT issues, applying sound judgment and problem-solving skills to address interdependencies.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving technologies, industry standards, and vendor roadmaps to support ongoing improvement and scalability.

Required Qualifications
  • 7-10 years relevant experience in infrastructure engineering and support.
  • 3-5 years of experience with cloud infrastructure design and support
  • Azure Cloud migration experience is required
  • Working experience with PowerShell, Bicep, and Terraform
  • Available for off hours support of changes and break-fix duties
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel regularly through assigned territory. Some overnight travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert is highly desired.
  • Major plus would be experience with Administration in an M365 environment
