More details:
A single father in Green Brook, NJ is looking for a warm, calm, reliable, and structured nanny/family assistant who is experienced with school-age children to help care for his two daughters, ages 8 years old and 13 years old. The schedule is from Monday to Friday, 3PM - 9PM with flexibility for occasional late evenings and overnight coverage during work travel.
Dad travels once a month for about a week at a time. Travel weeks will require expanded/overnight hours, including mornings, school drop-off/pick ups, dinner/bedtime, activity pick-up/drop-off and overnight supervision. Additional pay will be provided for this care.
During the summer, the schedule may include after-camp/evening hours, with some full-day coverage during non-camp weeks and work travel. Ability to travel with the family some days/week is preferred
Duties:
Duties for this position may include child-related and light family-assistant tasks such as school/activity transportation, school supply pickup, pharmacy pickup, returns/exchanges for children's items, picking up organization supplies, managing kid-related deliveries, and helping with donations of outgrown clothes/toys with parent approval. Grocery shopping is not required, as groceries are ordered online.
Additional responsibilities include school pickup, homework support, meals/snacks for the kids, bedtime routine, kids' laundry, keeping the kids' rooms and playroom organized, helping the children learn life skills such as cleaning up, organizing belongings, preparing for school, and taking responsibility for their spaces.
Other household errands may involve doing laundry, vacuuming, and keeping the house organized. This is not a deep-cleaning or housekeeping role, but organization and light household support related to the children is important. Basic pet care may be requested, such as taking the dog out in the backyard, walking, playing with her occasionally, giving her food and water.
Ideal nanny:
The ideal nanny for this home is patient, organized, mature, safety-focused, proactive. This household is seeking someone who can help create routine and structure, support homework and school organization, teach life skills, encourage independence, and calmly handle transitions, emotions, and sibling dynamics.
Someone trustworthy, emotionally steady, respectful of family boundaries, discreet, and genuinely caring is greatly valued by this family. Dad is looking for someone who can become a consistent, positive presence in the children's lives.
Some college or college degree is a plus but not a must. However, with school-age children, strong communication skills, and good judgment are more important than a specific degree.
About the children:
The 8-year old is smart, high EQ, caring, and the sweetest person on this planet. She loves math, reading, playing outside with her friends, painting, Legos, making YouTube videos. After school she has tennis, gymnastics and dance.
The 13-year-old is the sweetest and most innocent person in the whole world. She loves performing arts and math. Her afterschool activities consist of piano and dance. She has high functioning autism and requires the patience to understand her, otherwise she's fully independent.
About the household:
This single father is a structured, busy individual with an active lifestyle. His daughters mean the world to him and the family spends a lot of time doing fun activities, homework, movie nights, etc. This family lives in a close neighborhood, and occasionally kids from the neighborhood come over for playdates.
Dad likes routines and keeps to a structured schedule for his children. During school weeks, the children have homework after school, piano/dance practice, play dates, dinner, and reading at night before going to bed is their normal routine. Doing learning activities, like homework and worksheets is valued in this home. Screen time for this home is structured, as well. Keeping a night time and morning routine is important.
Benefits:
Salary plus paid vacation days off, paid holidays off, paid sick days off, and paid personal days off.
