Position Summary:
The Ride Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting all amusement rides and attractions to ensure they operate safely and efficiently. This position plays a critical role in guest safety and satisfaction by performing preventive maintenance, adhering to safety standards, and promptly addressing mechanical or operational issues. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of ride safety and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Preventive Maintenance and Inspection:

· Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of rides and attractions to ensure safe and proper operation.

· Conduct routine preventive maintenance according to manufacturer specifications and park standards.

· Document all maintenance activities and inspection findings accurately in maintenance logs and reports.

· Identify potential safety hazards or mechanical issues and take immediate corrective action.

2. Repairs and Troubleshooting:

· Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on rides and attractions.

· Perform repairs and part replacements in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime.

· Collaborate with other mechanics, electricians, and maintenance staff to resolve complex equipment problems.

· Test rides after maintenance or repair to verify safety and performance before reopening to guests.

3. Safety and Compliance:

· Ensure all work complies with manufacturer guidelines, safety codes, and state/local amusement ride regulations.

· Follow lockout/tagout procedures, confined space entry, and other required safety practices.

· Maintain a strong awareness of safety standards and promote a culture of safety throughout the maintenance team.

· Immediately report any unsafe conditions, ride malfunctions, or incidents to management.

4. Documentation and Recordkeeping:

· Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and repair records for all rides and attractions.

· Complete required forms, checklists, and reports in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

· Assist in preparing documentation for inspections by state officials or third-party safety auditors.

· Track inventory of parts and supplies and notify management of restocking needs.

5. Teamwork and Communication:

· Work collaboratively with other maintenance personnel, ride operators, and supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.

· Communicate effectively with management regarding ride status, repairs, and potential safety concerns.

· Assist with training new maintenance staff on safety procedures and equipment operation.

· Participate in daily operational meetings and provide input on maintenance schedules and priorities.

6. Emergency Response and Support:

· Respond promptly to ride stoppages, breakdowns, or mechanical issues during operating hours.

· Assist in safely evacuating guests from rides when necessary and support incident investigations.

· Be available for on-call duty, after-hours maintenance, or emergency repairs as needed.

Qualifications:

Education:

· High school diploma or equivalent (required).

· Technical or trade school certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance (preferred).

Experience:

· Previous experience as a ride mechanic, maintenance technician, or similar role in an amusement park, resort, or entertainment facility (preferred).

· Experience working with hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, and control systems.

· Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.

Skills:

· Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.

· Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

· Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

· Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Certifications:

· Maintenance or technical certifications (preferred).

· CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).

· Valid driver’s license (required).

· Lockout/Tagout and OSHA safety training (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to stand, climb, kneel, and work at heights or in confined spaces for extended periods.

· Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.

· Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and cold.

· Must have sufficient strength and coordination to handle tools and mechanical components safely.

Work Environment:

· Work performed both indoors (maintenance shops) and outdoors (rides and attractions).

· Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, mechanical equipment, and moving parts.

· Requires flexibility in scheduling, including weekends, evenings, holidays, and on-call availability.
