Located in Gretna, Nebraska, Vala's is a family owned and operated fall festival open to the public 45 to 55 days a year and is a treasured fall tradition for many families in the surrounding communities. Vala's property spans 400+ acres, including over 50 attractions, such as pick-your-own pumpkins, apples, and flowers, and over 25 food locations.
Vala's Pumpkin Patch & Apple Orchard is hiring a Seasonal Amusement Ride Technician to assist in maintaining amusement rides. Located in Gretna, Nebraska, Vala's is one of the largest pick-your-own pumpkin patches in the world, spanning 400+ acres and including over 50 attractions.
Requirements
Responsibilities:
As part of the rides team, this position will be assigned a variety of maintenance tasks throughout the farm under the direction of the Amusement Ride Foreman and the Director of Safety and Attractions. You will work on amusement rides, like the roller coaster and train, performing inspections, general maintenance, and repairs. You will trouble-shoot, repair and test rides throughout the farm. This position is responsible for maintaining quality and safety standards throughout the farm, ensuring all rides are up to operational standard. This is a seasonal part time position, with hours available from August to November. Available shifts are: 7am-11am daily, 5:30pm-9:30pm Sunday to Thursday, and 6:30pm-10:30pm Friday and Saturday.
  • Assist in the daily opening and closing of amusement rides across the farm
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance and repairs on assigned equipment
  • Perform quality control checks on equipment throughout the farm
  • Inspect ride equipment to diagnose issues accurately
  • Follow Safety Guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Utilize online portal to document maintenance work performed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Repair and/or replace parts and components of amusement rides and other machinery
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good operating condition
  • Additional job duties may be assigned based on business needs

Requirements:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and repair skills
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals
  • Experience with basic tools and mechanical equipment
  • Must have working smart phone and willingness to download rides inspection program
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Ability to lift, push and pull 50-100 pounds occasionally, 25 pounds frequently
  • Able to walk, stand, reach and bend for extended periods
  • Ability to work in variable weather conditions
