Shape Overnight Care. Support Veterans at Their Most Critical Moments.

Are you a skilled, decisive physician who excels in high-impact, overnight hospital care? The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center is seeking a committed Hospitalist to join our dedicated team serving those who have served our nation.


Position Highlights:

  • Overnight Attending Physician: Lead the care of hospitalized Veterans during overnight hours, ensuring safe, high-quality treatment in a collaborative environment.
  • Varied Clinical Scope: Perform new admissions, deliver ICU-level care (including ventilator management, non-invasive ventilation, vasoactive medications), and respond confidently to all rapid responses and Code Blues.
  • Clinical Coordination: Coordinate and communicate effectively with consulting services and ensure safe, detailed clinical handoffs to day teams.
  • Diagnostic Proficiency: Order and interpret a full range of diagnostic studies to guide evidence-based management.
  • Team Leader & Educator: Supervise and mentor trainees when present, fostering a strong culture of teamwork and learning.
  • Rigorous Documentation: Complete timely, thorough clinical documentation according to best practices and hospital standards.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with nurses, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care for Veterans at every stage of hospitalization.

Schedule:

  • Monday – Saturday: 7:00 pm – 7:00 am
  • Sunday: 7:00 pm – 3:00 am
    (on alternating weeks)
