Outpatient Psychiatrist

Inova Health is looking for a dedicated Outpatient Psychiatrist to join the team. Inova Behavioral Health supports Inova's overall mission, promoting total wellness – mind and body – by offering a full spectrum of mental health and addiction treatment services to the surrounding Northern Virginia and Washington, DC, metropolitan community.

Split between our outpatient clinic and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), the Outpatient Psychiatrist position offers a unique blend of clinical opportunities. In the outpatient clinic, you will carry a small caseload of medication management patients and will help lead transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and esketamine, as part of our growing neuromodulation program.

In the Intensive Outpatient Program, you will provide psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and clinical consultation for patients participating in structured outpatient behavioral health services. This role works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary treatment team to support stabilization, treatment planning, symptom management, and safe transitions to ongoing care.

Our extensive continuum of care includes an urgent psychiatric assessment center (IPAC), inpatient psychiatry, detoxification and addiction services, partial hospitalization programs (PHP), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), outpatient psychiatric appointments, and outpatient counseling services.

Additional Requirements:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine degree or Doctor of Osteopathic degree from an accredited institution AND Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry
  • Experience: Successful completion of an ACGME physician residency program
  • Licensure: Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia and Virginia DEA
  • Credentialing: Ability to be credentialed by the Inova Health System as an associate member of the Medical Staff with clinical privileges in Internal Medicine
