Valvano Day Hospitaliscomprisedof outpatient pediatric specialty clinics and an outpatient pediatric infusion area. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time.
Level 4 of the Children's Health Center consists of clinics such as allergy/immunology, bone and marrow transplant, hematology/oncology, and liver transplant, along with a 12 hour/7 day-a-week infusion unit which services all pediatric outpatient infusions. Patient populations are both oncology and non-oncology, but chemotherapy certification isrequiredwithin 6 months.Nurses hired for this unit work in both clinics and the infusion area.

*Must have 1 full yearof nursing experience

Ideal candidates will have a passion for teamwork,demonstrateaccountabilityand have an appreciation for family-center care.

Work Schedule:

Full Time:Mixed schedule of8 and 12 hourshifts with occasional weekend rotation.


What you will do:

As aClinical Nurse IIin Duke University Health System, you will plan and provide professional nursing care for patientsin accordance withthe medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and familiesin accordance withthe scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

  • Plan, provide,superviseand document professional nursing careutilizingthe nursing process for patientsin accordance withphysician orders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursing judgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of the patient's baseline needs and response to care.

  • Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licensed and unlicensed care providers.

  • Assistother nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care and act as team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unit as assigned.

  • Monitor andinitiatecorrective action tomaintainthe environment of care including equipment and material resources.

  • Participate in own professional development bymaintainingrequired competencies,identifyinglearning needs and seekingappropriate assistanceor educational offerings.

  • Act as preceptor and support the development of other staff and formal learners.

  • Participate in the identification of clinical or operational performance improvement opportunities and in performance improvement activities.

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work describedherein.

What you will need:

  • Graduation from an accreditedBachelor's Degree in Nursing(or higher) ORAssociate'sDegree in Nursing OR Nursing Diploma program.

***All registered nurses without aBachelor's degree in Nursing(or higher) will berequiredto enroll inan appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within seven years of their start date.

Licensure and Certification Required:
